Riverbed Technology, a leader in IT performance management systems, came to WebEnertia for a fresh design for their website. Leveraging insight about Riverbed’s IT engineering audience and the latest interactive platforms, WebEnertia helped Riverbed achieve a contemporary look and feel and a streamlined user experience.
The new Riverbed site is optimized to adapt to whatever type of device, screen, and resolution is used to view it. It displays videos on desktop platforms that can handle them to deliver a richer user experience and intelligently defaults to still images or infographics for mobile.
Special focus was given to the experience of the website on touchscreens, since traffic analysis showed that a significant portion of their audience viewed the site on mobile devices.

While top-of-screen navigation is common on most websites, the engineering audience of Riverbed is familiar with left-hand navigation from their software tools. Because of this, the team used CSS3 transitions to intuitively surface multiple levels of navigation on the left, enabling users to intuitively grasp the site structure.
The updated site design aligns with contemporary web standards and better reflects Riverbed’s position as a thought leader and a technology pioneer.
Customized wireframe templates guided development and ensured a logical content hierarchy on each page. They also give Riverbed the flexibility to regularly refresh content in-house.
As an early step, WebEnertia worked closely with the Riverbed team to analyze existing content and develop a site architecture that enabled users to find what they were interested in quickly, while facilitating cross-sell.
The latest standard for CSS and completely backwards-compatible with all earlier versions.
