Decade of Short Films

It was a pleasure and honor for us to play a supporting role in the recent 10th anniversary of the San Jose International Short Film Festival and its incredible lineup of more than 150 imagination-stretching short films from around the globe.

As designers and artists ourselves, we draw creative energy from and celebrate the cinematic art that the festival has brought to Silicon Valley for the past decade.

“Once (Clear Digital) was on board, even that very first year, it took our branding and messaging to a new level and gave us more of an identity,” said Bill Hargreaves, festival co-founder and director.

Our contributions this year — our 4th co-sponsoring the event — included the following:

• Concept and theme development
• Brand and event asset creation
• Website design updates

“Every year, the creative is always smart and engaging for our audience,” Hargreaves said. “They were super helpful in educating people on the short film genre.”

Our partnership has proved award winning as we took home the 2018 Gold Addy for cross platform work based on last year’s theme, and we expect to compete for more awards with this year’s work.

We also sponsored and chose this year’s winner for Best Animation: “One Small Step” – the story of Luna, a Chinese-American girl who dreams of becoming an astronaut. Every year, we look forward to our lunch-hour screenings and discussions about which animated film most impacted us.

“This is one of the more fun projects to work on, because we get to work on something a little different than our main technology clientele,” said designer Kisha Rikhi.
